I cant find anything you are talking about in cinema 4d. I see a emitter and thats it…no Xp system.
Do you have xparticles installed?
Hello, I’m using X-Particles 2.5 and I don’t see follow surface modifier. Is there a way around this or is it called something else? Thank you.
Hi mate, you may need to upgrade to get this feature unfortunatly;) I plan on doing more XParticles tutes soon too! BTW we also have a fancy new website full of loads of CG Resources if you want to check it out https://www.cgshortcuts.com thanks for watching!

Here a setup I have been struggling with.
I tried a few different ways, see below:
1) I have particles moving over a mesh, constraint with follow surface and leaving spline trails
2) Eventually I want to animate the mesh underneath, a talking and moving character, but I want to stick the trails to the mesh while the trails are being created an while the character is moving around.
– Problem is it needs to be procedural not happen after the splines are all created.
I remember watching this tutorial when it first came out and I didn’t have C4D yet but wanted to get it. I’ve been a year with C4D now, roughly and I just picked up and am learning XP, and now here I am again. 🙂
Thanks for creating and sharing this tutorial with us. A fun thing I did with it, was turn it dark purple and made a creep tumor in the center. Fun idea for anyone that likes StarCraft 2! 🙂
Edit: One issue I ran into, was the Max limit for emission. You put it to 100 but I couldn’t see it there in mine at all, anywhere, so I had to make some adjustments. I ended up doing a Shot for emission and lowered that number, plus the branches really low. I think roughly around 10 and 30’ish, respectively.
