C4D Rubiks Cube Animation

Cinema 4D + Redshift Rubik’s Cube animation project using quaternion rotation for realistic twisting cube movement.

Learn how to animate a Rubik’s Cube in Cinema 4D using a little-known setting—quaternion rotation—for smooth and accurate twists. Initially tricky with MoGraph and constraints, this final method offers a clean, hand-animated solution that closely mimics real-world cube behavior. The included project files (with and without Redshift) let you explore or repurpose the technique for your own work. Created for Shruti, a CG Shortcuts member, who needed it for an infographics project. Includes a preview video and dynamic animation using the Track Modifier.
