3 of our best tips for setting up your Landscape Materials, specifically for plants and trees. We look at how to apply textures to cards on low resolution trees (also called atlases) using the sprite node which is much more optimized for large scenes.
Then we’ll look at Back-Lighting/Translucency to let light pass through our leaves without the need of Subsurface Scattering or Translucency that would dramatically slow down our render.
And finally we discuss a simple technique to add variation to the color of your trees and plants for extra realism using the Color User Data node and Color Layer Node in Redshift.
