Metal Carving Effect in Cinema 4D – a technique for carving away parts of an object in Cinema 4D.

This was requested by Seungpyo (one of our awesome Members) who wanted to create a metal carving effect similar to what can be seen in the Bang and Olufsen promo below.

We managed to create the cut away effect and the brushed texture and circles on the carved surface, but we weren’t quite able to get as intricate as what might be achievable in Houdini (of which the effect was originally created).

It’s a simple technique in Cinema 4D anyway, here’s how to set it up:
